China’s Shanhua Carpet Group and Meridien Marketing Group announce Distribution Agreement for the US, Caribbean, South America and Europe

 LaGrange, GA Meridien Marketing Group and Weihei Shanhua Carpet Group have jointly announced today a Distribution Agreement covering woven and tufted products produced by Shanhua and sold by MMG, in the US, Caribbean, South America and European markets. The announcement was made at both the Shanhua Headquarters in Weihei, China and in MMG’s offices, headquartered in LaGrange, GA.

“We are pleased to see the cooperation between Meridien and Shanhua and are full of great expectations,” said Liu Xinhui, Chairman of Weihei Shanhua Group. “Shanhua’s blooming expansion is speeding up the recognition of Shanhua as a major international carpet brand,” continued Chairman Liu. Shanhua is one of China’s largest manufacturers of carpets, with an emphasis in woven and axminster production, with annual sales of over 1 billion (RMB) and capacity of over 18 million square meters. Shanhua has been one of the top Chinese carpet giants, in terms of total revenue, for the past 17 years. Shanhua also enjoys recognition as a “China Top Brand” and “ China’s 500 Most Valuable Brands.” Shanhua is ISO 9001 and ISO 4001 certified. Shanhua provided many of the most visible carpet products at the 2008 Beijing Olympics ,2010 World Expo Shanghai as well as the Hong Kong Airport.

“The face of the carpet industry is changing…. and changing fast, both here in the US, as well as in Europe,” said H. David Murray, President of Meridien, who made his comments while attending the HOTEC North America event, held recently in Key Biscayne, FL. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring such a powerhouse company like Shanhua to the world stage.” Murray, a veteran of the commercial carpet industry,. has held key executive positions with Milliken, Durkan, Columbus Mills and Beaulieu of America. “The Meridien Companies have been trading in China now for 7 years and have established three offices in China to oversee the company’s expanding programs in natural stone, millwork, resin and mosaics and now, this significant expansion into carpet. The world recognizes the strategic advantages of off shore production and is lining up its supplier base to bring these cost advantages into the mainstream of the commercial carpet industry.” We think that MMG is uniquely positioned to offer hospitality carpet customers advantages in the world market,” Murray continued.

The headquarters of the new venture will be at Meridien House in LaGrange, GA. “We will be reaching out in the very near future to attract the hospitality industry’s top talent to this new venture and expect that our phones will start ringing off the hook” when the news of this new relationship between MMG and Shanhua reaches the marketplace.”

Meridien and Shanhua also announced that Roderick James Design, LLC based in LaGrange, GA will be the design studio that will work with the Meridien customers on the development of custom designs. “This will provide a level of comfort to the hospitality design firms that this new venture will need to attract in order to reach the levels of success, we expect to achieve, said Rod Short, President of Roderick James.
